Rick Castle is one of the worlds most successful crime authors. He is asked to consult with the New York City police about a serial-killer case in which the murderer is reenacting scenes from Castles books. Beckett, an avid reader of Castles books, initially disapproves of having Castle shadow her work, but later warms up and recognizes Castle as a useful resource in her teams investigations.
